PhotoPlus International Conference and Expo by Alice Chin
I recently attended the PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo at the Javits Center. It's the largest photography and imaging show in North America with over 100 educational seminars, Photo Walks and Master Classes. The educational seminars were a great way to advance skills and knowledge on anything related to photography or improving your photography business.
I attended a copyright seminar where I learned the step by step process on how to copyright photos online. I also attended a Master Class on lighting where a fashion photographer showed us how to use just one softbox and light stand to create various types of lighting effects. Another Master Class I attended was a street photography class with photographers Danny Weiss, Sally Davies, Ken Shles and Jeffrey Hensen Scales. It was really fascinating to learn about the thought process behind their street shots. I also attended an excellent Master Class by Eduardo Angel which was fundamental video for photographers. I received a lot of essentials tips on making video and learned about the basic differences and similarities between shooting video and photography. With over 225 exhibitors displaying thousands of the latest products and services, there was plenty to see on the expo floor. I got to check out some of the exhibitors including big name established brands like Canon and Nikon, but also discovered some new brands. A lot of booths were doing demos on the latest products and also provided camera cleaning and repair services. The PhotoPlus expo is a must-attend event for photography lovers.
