WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY 2012 GALA “THE COASTS OF PATAGONIA” at the Central Park Zoo, New York City Honoring Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla, one of the region’s truly great leaders in conservation and Dr. Steven E. Sanderson, President and CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
World-renowned Event Designer and best-selling author Preston Bailey.
Gala 2012: The Coasts of Patagonia
is a celebration of WCS’s commitment to conserving the globally
significant natural wealth along the coasts of Chile and Argentina. The
evening will capture the pristine beauty of this area, while raising
awareness and building support to ensure its future. The gala will
highlight WCS’s decades-long commitment to the Patagonian coastline
through the establishment of the Karukinka reserve, ecotourism work in
Tierra del Fuego, and the WCS Sea and Sky project. The evening’s
honoree is longstanding friend of WCS, Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla, one of
the region’s leaders in conservation. WCS is also pleased to honor
President and CEO Dr. Steven E. Sanderson, who will retire in July 2012.
Dr. Sanderson’s tenure at WCS helped conservation efforts grow and
expand into more than 65 nations.
The
Central Park Zoo, located at 64th Street and Fifth Avenue, brings WCS’s
global conservation work to life through innovative exhibits such as
the Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard and Tropic Zone Rainforest
exhibits.
The Wildlife Conservation Society saves
wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global
conservation, education and the management of the world's largest system
of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these
activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine
wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission
because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth. Visit www.wcs.org.
